| 1:22 AM 4/4/2008 CST | 6:18 PM 4/3/2008 CST. That was when I wrote this but the airport's wireless had ftp blocked so I couldn't upload this: Today we had a great day!! I got to go down Pallavicini and had a great time. I'm in the airport right now about to get on a plane so I'll just post some videos of me skiing. The first will be me going down Pallavicini and the other will me just some crusing. I'll post some other pics later. The picture is of me on Pallavicine, you can see how steep it is. |
| 9:29 AM 4/3/2008 CST | Well today is the last day. We're packing up and getting out of the condo. The skiing should be great, we got some more snow last night. I'll try to post some pictures of Pallavicini from the top later on. |
| 6:01 PM CST 4/2/2008 | Today was the best day of skiing yet!! We went back to Copper Mountain. It was a nice warm, mostly sunny day. I was feeling pretty good and kept up just fine. Towards the end of the day I turned a blue course into a Giant Slalom from about mid-mountain down. I was going so fast I even scared myself a bit. Actually, it felt really good and the turns just came naturally. We spent some time in the back bowls running the black diamonds. We took a break around 11 am (see pic) and then hit it again. There was a late lunch and then a few more runs and we called it quits. Jim had to get to the airport and Mike and I wanted to save our legs for Pallavicini tomorrow. It is a Double EX (Extreme Terrain, they won't even guarantee rescue) Diamond run at Arapahoe Basin!! I'll post a pic of it below - it's a lot steeper than it looks in the picture. Tonight we're going out for a fine dinner and then going to hit the rack. Tomorrow will be the last day of skiing. It should be a blast! |
| 9:34 AM 4/2/2008 CST | Today the three of us are headed up to Copper Mountain. It is a huge mountian, so I don't really mind going there for a third time. There is terrain there that I still haven't even touched. It turns out that I will be leaving here a day early. I had planned on getting back on Friday, but now that's going to be Thursday. That should be fine, give me some time to rest. I'll post about today with some pictures after we get done skiing. |
| 04/01/2008 | Well today I determined that I realy was coming down with something. I decided to sleep in and take it easy. The other guys got in a great day of skiing at Arapahoe Basin. I slept in then took a tour around town. I ended up at a local brew pub and then met up with the other guys. Since I didn't go skiing, I'll post a few pics of the scenery. |
| 3/31/2008 | We got off a bit early today so we could ski some of the fresh power up at Copper Mountain. I started off okay, but got really tired, really fast. I told Mike to go ahead without me for a while so I could rest. I felt really weak, like I was coming down with something. I took a rest at mid-moutain. It was a small lodge that was playing some great old school rock. I just lounged around there for a while and then made my way back to the base where it was a bit warmer. There I had a small lunch of some pizza and felt a bit better. I got back on a lift to try some more skiing when Mike called me. He was now taking a break and was at another lodge (down by Super Bee). I skied over to meet him and we took a break and chatted. After a bit we got in a few more runs. During those runs it really started to snow. Visibilty was very low and the ligt was very flat. I knocked off one run earlier than Mike and we took off. We had discussed going to Vail today, but I'm glad we didn't. There was a 50 car pileup on the Vail pass - we would have been stuck forever. ETA - It turns out that this accident actually was about 75 cars!! |
| 3/30/2008 | Today we skied at Copper Mountain. It is a very big place, comparable to my memory of Vail from a few years ago. It really is amazing how different the conditions can be at different altitudes on the mountain. At the bottom I was longing in a chair with no jacket or gloves on for a bit. I did have to put the jacket back on after I cooled off. However, at the top, it was very windy and cold. Up there, I had my hat on and everything snapped up. As I moved down the mountain, I would take off the hat and unsnap a few buttons. Then, back up to the top and put everthing back together. We skied mostly blue and black runs all day. We even got in a few mogul runs. It was fun, but very tiring. I was able to take a few pictures. I'll try to get some up here. |
